The Montgomeryshire Folk and Fable project is to take local folklore as a starting point to develop a performance. During the development Masqueraders will be actively encouraged to co-lead sessions to give them confidence and skills to enable them to assist in workshops when  the project is taken out  into the community. Work has already began with Monica and Alex Higson going out into the community to gather some local stories. Working together with the exprencied story teller and gather Clive Hopwood and Montgomeryshire Age concern we have accsse to popular Healthy Living Centers in Pont Robert and Llandrinio. Clive will attend to Pont Robert sessions giving Monica and Alex the skills to gather some folklore from Llandrinio.  Having done one session with the people of Pont Robert all sorts of stories are begining to unfold 'The men of the mist'. People would put scythes in their chimmneys to stop 'the men of the mist' getting into their houses. There are still Houses in the area that have scythes in there chimmneys today. Or, the maid that was locked in a tower because she fell for a man above her station. All exciting stuff and off to a very good start.
